Financial incentives for investors in Serbia

For greenfield and brownfield projects in the manufacturing sector, services sector related to international trade and strategic projects in tourism, grants are awarded in the amount of 4,000 to 10,000 euros for each worker employed full time within three years from the date of conclusion of the grant.

Regulation on conditions of attractin direct investment (”Off. Gazette of RS”, no. 20/2012, hereinafter Regulation) regulates the conditions and ways of attracting FDI in the Republic of Serbia and the criteria for allocating funds. The funds for direct investment are provided in the budget of the Republic of Serbia, subject to available funds. Funds may be used to finance investment projects in the manufacturing sector, tourism and service sectors related to international trade. Funds can not be used to finance investment projects in the sector of primary agricultural production, catering, trade and production of synthetic fibers and coal, as well as businesses in difficulties from Article 7 items 1) -3) of the Regulation.

 

The amount of funds awarded by Serbia:

  • For greenfield and brownfield projects in the manufacturing sector, services sector related to international trade and strategic projects in tourism, grants are awarded in the amount of 4,000 to 10,000 euros for each worker employed full time within three years from the date of conclusion of the grant. The investor is obliged to open at least 50 new jobs or 10 new jobs in the services sector related to international trade.
  • For projects of special interest - investments whose value is at least 200 million euros, which provides a minimum opening of 1,000 new jobs, in the ten years period from the date of signing of the grant, the grant is awarded in an amount up to 17% of the total value of investments.
  • For large investment projects - investments whose value is at least 50 million euros, which provides a minimum opening of 300 new jobs, in maximum period of ten years from the date of signing of the grant, grants are awarded up to 20% of the total investment.
  • For medium investment projects - investments whose value is at least 50 million euros, which provides a minimum opening of 150 new jobs, in maximum period of ten years from the date of signing of the grant, grants are awarded up to 10% of the total investment.
